Chapter 31: An Assembly meeting was held. Elend, along with the entire crew, as well as Tindwyl and Sazed, attended. Elend reported on his meeting with Straff and also mentioned Kelsier's legacy, associating himself with the Survivor to gain more authority. He skipped the argument he had prepared for reinstating himself as king and instead brought up the issue of nominating a new king. Penrod and Elend receive nominations, as well as Lord Cett, who turned out to be among the audience. Chapter 32: Lord Cett addressed the Assembly on why he should be the king. Cett was allowed to enter the city and reside in one of the abandoned keeps, and the meeting was adjourned. Cett's son, Gneorndin, approached Elend to invite him meet with Cett, and Elend agreed to do so in one week's time.
