Chapter 28: At a bal in house Lekal, Vin began spreading rumours to catalyze a house war. Elend and Vin talked (and finally shared a few subtle romantic moments <3 Want more!) Elend wanted Vin to leave Luthadel as it was getting more dangerous. He revealed that that his family secretly mine the Lord Ruler’s atium; but the atium supply had been having troubles lately, and if his father couldn’t meet the Lord Ruler’s quotas, things could grow very bad for the Ventures. Elend later went to meet with his friends, Jastes and Telden tried to convince Elend not to trust Valette. Back at Keep Venture, Straff Venture ordered Elend to go on a luncheon with the daughter of Lord Tegas as he wanted to make Tegas an ally in case of a house war. Jastes came to meet Elend and told him that Vin's carriage was empty as it left the city gates. Jastes was convinced that Valette was a spy from another house, trying to get to house Venture through Elend. Elend got suspicious of Vin and decided to borrow spies from his father.
