Chapter 55: The koloss and human soldiers charged Straff's army the next morning. Vin killed Straff and attacked the army's officers, causing the army to fall apart. Sazed watched the battle from a safe distance and mentally reviewed the prophecies about the Hero of Ages. He watched as Cett's army joined the battle against Straff's and, afterward, as Vin forced Penrod, Cett, and Janarle to accept Elend as Emperor. She put Sazed in charge and left to rest. Chapter 56: As Elend and Spook were traveling toward Luthadel, Elend encountered the mist spirit while he was alone. It pointed north and apparently tried to mentally push Elend. They then encountered a group of Terris refugees who were fleeing from Tathingdwen toward Luthadel because a group of Steel Inquisitors had appeared there and attacked and killed the Keepers in the Synod. Elend and Spook decided to accompany the Terrismen on their journey. Elend believed that Vin must have found a way to stop the koloss in Luthadel.
