Chapter 12: Sazed and Marsh arrived at the Conventical of Seran. The building was empty, and Marsh sensed that the Inquisitors had gone north toward Luthadel, among other places. They entered the Conventical of Seran, and Sazed stored his observations in a coppermind. Marsh asked Sazed to let him go alone to the Inquisitors’ quarters, so Sazed continued walking around on his own. He discovered a stairwell leading downward, where he found a chamber in which new Inquisitors were created. He noticed a doorway at the back of the room that led to a small chamber with a wall holding a steel plate inscribed in Terris by Kwaan, who had once proclaimed Alendi to be the Hero of Ages but later decided that Alendi must never be allowed to complete his quest. Marsh could not find anything useful left behind by the Inquisitors and that they should leave soon. Sazed believed that the engravings he had found were an important discovery, and he began to take charcoal rubbings of them.
