Chapter 4: In a village in the Eastern Dominance, Sazed was investigating a man who had died suddenly. Another villager said that mist had appeared during the day and swirled around the man before he collapsed and died. While Sazed was digging a grave for the dead man, he recalled the chaos, death, hatred, and disorder he had witnessed on his journey because of the Lord Ruler’s fall. He found a religion called HaDah in his coppermind for the funeral. He offered to teach the villagers about the religion, but they didn’t seem interested; instead, one of them asked when the Lord Ruler would return.
